Touch The Dark - Karen Chance

A little bit of vampire and a little bit of torture. Not for the faint-hearted, as it describes in detail some of the Inquisition's favorite pasttimes.
The book is clever with interweaving famous/infamous history figures with story background, but it is kind of a distraction from what is going on in the plot. If you can figure out what that is. I am all for reader surprises, but it kind of pisses me off when I don't know what is going on until halfway through the book. Another thing that bothered me was the distraction from what was happening in the scene. At one point it was long, drawn out conversations that interrupted an action scene and at another time I just wanted them to stop fighting long enough to find out what the hell was going on! But this is still a first book. And I was interested enough at the end to want to read the second book. Maybe the author will get better in time. The sequel to this novel comes out in April of 2007, and I am willing to give her a second chance...ha ha! Get it? Ahhh...terrible joke.
Would I Read This Again? No
Would I Recommend? Yes, but only as background for the second (hopefully better) book.

Anvil of the World - Kage Baker

This is actually a third read for me on this book, because I love it so much. It is a great magical fantasy, filled with complex characters who are FUNNY! I really enjoy a fantasy that has humor in it.

Rumor has it that Ms. Baker is working on a sequel to this, which will be out in 2007. Can't wait!

Would I Read This Again? YES!

Would I Recommend? Yes, if you enjoy Fantasy with some humor.

Seducing the Spy - Celeste Bradley

This was good and better, I think, that the last couple of Ms. Bradley's novels. We finally see an end to the tale of the Royal Four, which was beginning to detract from the Liar's Club storyline.

Would I Read This Again? Yes
Would I Recommend? Yes, but only if you had been keeping up with the series. This is not a stand-alone book!

Welcome To All!

Well, this is it. Not only is this my fourth blog, but is also one I am really excited about. Hopefully it won't take too much time away from my other blogs because I won't be updating every day, just when I finish a book. But I am a voracious reader, so that will be pretty often. Maybe even a few times a week!

I am excited to have a list of books that I have read, because sometimes I forget whether or not I have read something. Sometimes I remember that I read it, but I don't remember if it was good or not! Well, that all ends right now. So, enjoy my musings, ramblings and ratings of books I read. I hope that you take away a recommendation or two that you really love!
